If you have lost many teeth, though, then your dentist may want to have you fitted for dentures. While yes, tooth loss is common as we grow older, there are plenty of reasons why younger adults might have lost so many teeth, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Severe tooth decay.<\/strong> If you had years of poor dental hygiene, you might have developed cavities and decay that spread. If left untreated, this can eventually impact our jawbone which can lead to tooth loss.<\/li><li><strong>Periodontitis.<\/strong> In this advanced stage of gum disease, the gums retract from the teeth. As they do, our teeth can weaken and fall out.<\/li><li><strong>Other health conditions.<\/strong> Sometimes tooth loss is due to factors beyond our control like diabetes or juvenile arthritis.
